Law

Since its inception 13 years ago, Penn State Law has graduated 1,324 LL.M. graduates from 98 countries around the globe, the most diverse LL.M. class of its size anywhere in the United States. These international students enroll in the LL.M. program as lawyers, new law graduates, judges, civil servants, NGO leaders, and academicians. They enroll at Penn State Law aspiring to gain more experience in U.S. law (a common law jurisdiction) and to improve their legal skills and their legal English proficiency, as English is a dominant language in a globalized legal environment.

Annually, about one-third of an LL.M. cohort arrives from the Latin America region, including the following countries: Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. Most of Penn State Law’s LL.M. Latin American students are graduates from universities where Penn State Law has agreements in place. These agreements support faculty and student exchanges, tuition scholarships, and extended collaborations with partner universities outside Latin America.
